Report By Jerome McAllister

After a hard-fought win in their first game, the young footballers from Cuchullian’s headed into their second game full of confidence.

Right from the throw in Dunloy stamped their authority on this game and the ball was won in Midfield from Barry Scott who delivered a direct ball into his corner forward Ronan McAuley, who calmly slotted the ball over the bar. The next 15 minutes of the game was all Dunloy and they rattled off 1-3 without reply. Pairas McGarry making his first start at full forward was a real handful for the Moneyglass full back line getting on the scoresheet with a well taken goal and then followed up with a savage point from out wide on the right. The next score came from a turnover ball on the 45 from Barry Scott who was covering every blade of grass by this point of the game, Barry fed a great ball to Rory Mullan who beat his marker and slotted the ball over the black spot.

Dunloy took the foot of the gas for a five minutes and this let Moneyglass into the game with two unanswered points from play.

Seeing this Dunloy took the game by the scruff of the neck and their performance in the last 10 mins of the first half finished the game off as a contest. Rory Mullan was on fire causing mayhem in the Moneyglass defence with his surging runs added to his previous tally with a goal and three points. Pairas mc garry then got on the scoresheet again with a point, and then Daithi McGuigan converted a 30 yard free. From the kick-out Eoghan “Giroud” McGrath fielded the high ball, referee blew from for the mark but Eoghan played on leaving the Moneyglass defenders in his wake and rifled a low shot to the bottom corner of the net.

Dunloy made 2 changes at half time, with Daithi Cree coming on to full forward and Oisin Elliott to the corner. Dunloy started the second half as the way they did the first and with a long ball into the full forward line and with his first touch nutmegged the keeper to raise the green flag.

Making a few tactical changes, Moneyglass moved their full back to Centre half forward and this seemed to help them, they then scored the next four points in a row and from a dubious penalty decision Dunloy Keeper Padraig McGilligan was narrowly beaten from the spot.

Seeing that his teammates were starting to give the home team a sniff of a comeback Captain for the night Sean O’Neill led by example and got on the scoresheet with 2 – 1. Dunloy Forwards where spurred back into life and a superb goal from Conor McAleese to the top corner and another well taken score from Daithi McGuigan clipping the ball over the bar. Dunloy’s last scores came from centre half forward Eoghan “Giroud” McGrath with a goal and two points.
