SF Div3 – Dunloy take second scalp of the league

Dunloy 2-10 MacDiarmuids 0-05

Dunloy strolled to their second league victory of the week by seeing off the challenge of MacDiarmids this afternoon.

Paudie Shivers and Shane Dooey got us off to the perfect start with three scores between them before MacDiarmids scored their only score of the first half. By the time Karl Fitzpatrick had hit the back of the net, Shane Dooey and Duane Scott had already increased our advantage further. Pixie played a superb ball into the full forward line allowing Shane to execute the “Dooey Dummy” and send the ball into the back of the net for Dunloy Cuchullains second goal of the game. Conor McTaggart got the last score of the first half with a well taken left foot shot and the score at half time was 2-07 to 0-01.

The second half was procession like and the Belfast side lost their discipline. By the time they had their second player red carded for two book able offences, David Higgins had atoned for his earlier mistake and Shane Dooey had added two further points as the game finished 2-10 to 0-05.

The game was over at half time in fairness as Dunloy ran riot in the first half.

Next match versus St Endas up in the City on Wednesday evening.
Team: Sean Doherty, Joe Smyth, Barry Murphy, Stephen McToal, David Higgins (0-01), Duane Scott (0-01), Kieran Hughes, Gabriel McTaggart & Padraig Conlon, Anthony McQuillan (0-0 but no wides), Conor McTaggart (0-01), Sean Og McErlean, Karl Fitzpatrick (1-00), Shane Dooey (1-06), Paudie Shivers (0-01)

Shane Dooey won’t be impressed but he misses out to The Postman today. Joe Smyth was superb today, his defensive capabilities and attacking prowess was a joy to behold. Top notch performance Joe.
