GAA Qualifications for Unemployed / Club Volunteers

To All Unemployed Club Volunteers or Undergraduate’s – Unemployed at 30th June 2014,
Ulster GAA is providing an opportunity to bridge the gap for the unemployed. The scheme is designed to
enhance employability skills by developing them further through sports coaching. Essential employability
skills such as communication, time management, inter personal skills, organisation and planning skills, leadership
and managing concit skills will be developed through the programme. In addition sports coaching
awards will be oered free of charge to unemployed.
The courses which are on oer are:
• Employability Skills Workshop (1 Day)
• Camogie Foundation Award (1 Day)
• Child Protection Awareness for Coaches (1 Day)
• Award 1 Child Football (3 days)
• Award 2 Child Football (5 days)(Must have completed Award 1 Child)
• First Aid (1 Day)
• Foundation Award Football & Ladies Gaelic Football Foundation Award (2 Days)
The criteria for a position on the above scheme are:
• Participant must be an unemployed undergratudate/ unemployed club volunteer
• Employability Skills workshop is a compulsory element of the scheme
• Must ensure full attendance on enrolled elements to ensure accreditation
• No prior qualications required to enrol on Foundation Awards or First Aid
• All participants undertaking any Foundation Award must attend child protection
• To enrol on Award 1 Child participants must possess a Foundation Award
• To enrol on Award 2 Child participants must possess an Award 1 Child
The Unemployed Club Volunteer/ Undergraduate Scheme will take place in St. Mary’s University College
Belfast and will commence from Monday June 30th and will last until Friday July 11th.
