Dunloy 2-12 Portaferry 0-10
Dunloy got back to winning ways in the Antrim league but it came at a huge cost with Nicky McKeague having sustained a broken collar bone in an accident collision with team mate Kevin Molloy.
Dunloy birthday boy Nigel Elliott opened the scoring with a point in the 4th but a brace of points from Paul Braniff and Stephen Murray gave Portaferry a 0-1 lead.
Conor McKinley who would have an excellent game got his name on the scoresheet after being picked out by Miceal Murphy. Nicky McKeague picked off a 13th minute free but Conor Mageean kept the Down men in touch.
Nigel Elliott then saw his well struck effort well saved in the 14th but following up on the rebound was Nicky McKeague who found the net with the simplest of touches.
Paul Shiels then found a gap in the top corner of the net to give Dunloy their second goal in as many minutes and by half time Dunloy held a 2-4 to 0-5 lead.
The second half saw Dunloy pick up from where they had left off with Kevin McQuillan and Kevin McKeague raising white flags and in the 7th minute a peach of a point from Paul Shiels gave Dunloy a 2-7 to 0-6 lead.
Paul Braniff (3) kept Portaferry in touch but with Nicky McKeague and Paul Shiels (3) and a second long range effort from Conor McKinley gave Dunloy a 2-12 to 0-10 win.
A rock solid defence saw excellent performances from Oran Quinn, James McKeague, Mickey McClements, Conor McKinley and Miceal Murphy while at midfield Kevin McKeague worked hard. Upfront Nicky McKeague, Nigel Elliott and Paul Shiels were Dunloys dangermen.
