Div 2 Football Dunloy 1-07 Davitts 1-09
Poor second half costs Dunloy
Dunloy 1-07 Davitts 1-09
After a convincing week 2 win away to Glenravel confidence was high in the Dunloy camp of picking up a second win of the season however all of that was shot down by a poor second half at home to Davitts.
Missing County hurlers Nigel Elliot and Conor McKinley along with the injured Kevin McQuillan Dunloy opened up the stronger team and were on top for most of the first half.
A well worked goal from Kevin McAllister compounded Dunloys dominance as the home side raced into a 1-05 to 0-00 lead. With Dunloy pushing forward for another score to stretch the lead the ball crashed off the cross bar and the resultant clearance was well worked up the pitch by Davitts to score an all important goal. It left the score at half time Dunloy 1-06 Davitts 1-01.
The second half was one for Dunloy to forget as Davitt’s battled back into the game and kept nicking over the scores. Dunloy were struggling to get the scores they needed to settle themselves down and get into the game.
With 50 mins on the clock the sides were now tied at 1-06 a piece. In the last 10 mins Dunloy could only manage a single score to Davitt’s 3 white flags. Credit to Davitts who produced a strong second half to out score us 0-01 to 0-08 and take the points for their first win of the season.
A disappointing loss for Dunloy but plenty of signs of encouragement with so many important players for manager Dominic Dillon to have back in the squad.
