Cuchullain’s claim Minor hurling title
Dunloy 1.15 Glenariff 1.07
Serious performance from our minors yesterday, who from start to finish hurled like a team who were never going to be beaten by a Glenariff side who put up a very stern physical challenge to our very young side. Note that in yesterdays starting 15, 9 of the side are U16 (and 5 of those U15) so that makes yesterdays achievement all the more special. The U16s and minors have been training together this year and the whole squad has worked very well together. The lack of competitive games for the minors this year has been very disappointing, but the training games the they’ve been playing along with the U16s has more than made up for that lack of official games. Great credit must be given to the U16 and Minor mentors who have prepared the team all year. Yesterdays performance showed that the mentors commitment and passion for the club and the game has rubbed off on this group of players. Lots of proud Cuchullain’s watched skill and steel in delivered in equal amounts. Our discipline also was impeccable from start to finish.
Special mention to the older panelists, who for many years through their juvenile careers (mainly due to lack of numbers) have not had a lot of success but have kept working at their game all through those difficult years. Yesterday they showed leadership in those central positions as well as the skill we all know they possess. We hope they are all looking forward to showing that same drive and passion to succeed as they move into U21 and Senior in the years to come.
